Elegance Matcha

Off-the-beaten path for matcha production, Wazuka town is finding its way onto the map through the efforts of Uejima-san, who pioneered matcha production at his family’s five-generation tea farm, distinguishing early on between different cultivars, as well as started a cooperative tea shop there.

The Elegance Matcha is an usucha (‘thin tea’) ceremonial grade matcha, created from leaves of the Gokou cultivar, developed especially for the Kyoto climate—whip it well to a beautifully aerated froth to enjoy its distinct umami flavours and creamy texture.

For the thicker, more intense experience of a koicha, we recommend Uejima-san’s Velvet Matcha.
